next year

I'd like to have us invite a man who does double on half, let him be king for a day ( or for lunch break ) so he can show us not only the technique, but the way they sell themselves.

Now that I have milked the " I am a girl and I am going to do it your way " thing for decades now, with success, I really want the girls to see where I first saw it all.

The system is remarkable, the sales pitch and the " show ". All the guys tend to do this, it's a competent, graceful, stylish (for lack of a better word ) snake oil show.

I want everyone to see what inspired me. I loved the sales pitch as much as I did the cutting, it's very much a showmanship skill. There's a reason they do it in the home, it would be pointless to take the furniture away.

Bernice will have to identify who's in that area, but they are fairly common in the urban areas on the east coast.

Yes, they are and if Bernice can't come up with one we do have Richard who is on our Network who may like to come up and show us his magic....

Great idea. I really do believe in hands on but I also found it really helpful to simply watch Shirley, for example, sew. So, seeing "one of them guys" in action sounds like a great suggestion.

I had the benefit of watching and hearing them, up close, explain to me how they generalized decision making. I think that's key, they don't agaonize over choices.

As Maureen would say, the choice, right or wrong, is made acceptable by both sides looking the same.

My husband, for instance ( not that he knows slipcovers ) wouldn't have the trust to do this, he'd have to be sure of the outcome first, and of course you can't be.

In the trenches ( urban moderately prices slipcovers spit out at a speedy clip )you see some unfortunate errors where people didn't think while they cut, and I don't advocate not thinking.

But you can use the method and incorporate good judgement, the method doesn't mean you don't use what you know. We already know more than a novice urban double on half cutter, the horror stores you might hear are related to not having sewn at all, some results I saw were remarkably funny sad and awful.

To do it well you have to know how to sew well, and that's our advantage. We can leap into this.

Jeannie, was the inserting the cord into two layers at once new to you ?

Shirley, if you're still reading this...

Could you pleeeeeease provide details? Kind of like a cautionary tale for the unwitting (sort of).
