Slipcover Design Contestant R

A total of 4 different patterns were used in the construction of this slipcover. I created a chevron design where the inside back meet the outside back.

The design on he inside arm matches where it meets the outside arm.

The slipcover does not need a zipper and it slips on and off easily. The skirt is gathered and the entire piece has self welting.

Slipcover Design Contestant Q

This client purchased a pair of these at an estate sale. The arm fronts were quite tattered with the stuffing showing through. We chose a suitable fabric for the chairs to “live” on her covered patio but still give a light air to her outdoor room.

I delivered the slipcovers (yes, it was a pair) and surprise- she forgot to mention that she wanted box pleating on the front sides. She claimed it was shown in the picture but not the picture I had!

So the solution (other than starting nearly all over) was to replace the front from the edge of the deck on down. The pleating is not a standard depth as there was nothing to attach the outside pleat to other than hand tack it to the side itself. I was concerned that it would pull on the side and pucker if it were any deeper. The client is now a happy camper.

These two chairs suffered terribly at the claws of 3 cats.

The owners wanted to try slipcovers but wanted an upholstered look.

We used a tightly woven jacquard/chenille fabric with a lot of body to get a tight fit.

The fabric is Fabricut Embassy Suites in Raspberry Sparkle and Kiwi.

The fabric is lightweight and easily stretch over the furniture.

I used small darts so that the furniture shape is hugged closely by the slipcover.

The bottom is finished with hook and loop pulled tightly under the furniture.
