Slipcover Design Contestant L

Client was looking for a fresh change from the stripe. We chose a fabric that was self lined to make sure no pattern showed through.

I loved working with this fabric. You can see how nicely it lays; very crisp, clean and no problem covering up the stripped “before” fabric.

Slipcover Design Contestant K

This chair posed several challenges due to the oversized arms and customers desire for a fitted look.

Several darts were taken at the back area of the arm to get the slipcover to conform to this shape.

Velcro was stitched onto the seam allowance and with the permission of the customer the hook side of the velcro was stapled to the chair to the frame under the arm.

With ample amount of tuck in on the chair, a zipper was not necessary. Kasmir Fabric Patter: Zenith, Color: Barley with fiber content of 58% cotton and 42% polyester.

Slipcover Design Contestant J

A well worn sweet heart chair desperately needed re-upholstery from the bones up, but I just didn't have the time.

Fabrics Used: Lady Ann Emma's Garden - Jewel Plaid - Greenhouse 90794 Cinnabar - Green Velvet for weltcord

3 bedspreads were used for this sleeper sofa slipcover. One for the inside back, second for the cushions and the third for the outside arms and back.

Long swags of sheer material are gathered at one end and sewn into the seam at the front arm. Two rings are sewn to the outside corners which swags can pass through and then tied in a bow for a very feminine feel.

Robert Allen Myron Stripe in blue on on this chair and ottoman. The client fell in love with this wide bold strip but the fabric was a bit slippery to work with.

We laundered it to see if it would lose some of the sheen and get thicker, and indeed it did and was a pleasure to work with.

Slipcovered in Fabricut's Diesel/Primary, all welting and pleat are in Motorcross/ Blueberry.

For a twist not unsusally seen on a wing chair, I fabricated a pleat on each corner of the front, accenting the pleat with the welt fabric.

Matching continuously around the chair made it complete, incuding a matching lumbar pillow.

The recliner was in okay shape but a bit tired – the client wanted to freshen things up a bit.

I ended up making FOUR separate slipcovers in order for the chair to recline.

The chair was on it's way to the dump and now it is a bedtime story spot for identical twin grandsons.

Soft golden yellow fabric by Greenhouse was chosen for the chair. A zipper was needed because the chair has a wide top, a narrow bottom and limited tuck in around the arms.

Kast animal print fabric (Bangkok Tropical) was used to make inserts in the box pleat skirt as well as using selected animal sections to cover the buttons that were used for the tufting on the back of the chair.

The chairs green cording a Greenhouse tweed was also used on cornices in the nursery. All fabrics were used in acompanying footstool, throw pillows and lamp.

I made careful measurements and muslin pattern onsite.

4 different fabrics were brought back to the shop. Because the 100% cotton was different from the others I made interfacing for light weight fabric. Bows, ties, welting and hidden zipper were special details.

Slipcover Design Contestant B

Made from a lightweight gingham chintz which stretched enough to give a nice fit.

The bottom is finished with tabs that velcro was stitched to and then attached underneathe to self adhesive velcro.

Slipcover Design Contestant A

This slipcover project utilized two coordinating cotton sateen by Waverly. The face fabric has a dominant pattern that repeats every 30 inches. This required careful planning for fabric placement.

The companion print is a coordinating stripe that was used for the cording, and the gussets. The down filled cushions also carry the pattern match, for both sides of each cushion.

The pattern matching was definitely the challenge of this slipcover, but in the end, the fabric repeat actually fit the stature of the chair quite nicely. As the project progressed, all of the lines became a continuous flow, making the end result quite pleasing.
